"Sky Jack"
A Commissioned piece to help raise money to build a new natural habitat for the Golden Eagles at the Montgomery Zoo. This is my original sketch as I composed my design. It was most important for this to be a strong design and show off the eagles beauty and power.

"Alabama Migratory Waterfowl Stamp
Competition"
This is a portion of my original sketch as I worked out my design. I worked from a mounted duck set up and lighted in my studio. From the start I discovered I had to look at the mount from exactly the same angle each time, because with the slightest movement the colors changed.

Every artist around this part of the country has to paint something with this bridge in it, it's mandatory. I've seen this bridge painted every color, and texture, and from every angle. I knew I would have to paint it, so I looked for my particular angle. I decided to show it as the glue that holds the entire scene together as life goes on around it. SOLD

The two Cypress trees just behind the egret can be seen on the starboard

Acrylic on Illustration Board 18 X 24
This is one of my favorite paintings and it came to life after a conversation I had with a long time friend. He told me about this strange dream he had and the more I listened the more the imagery stuck in my head. Even after I actually painted my interpretation of his vision, I still get a haunting feeling form the story.

Deb and I were visiting the Five Points area of Birmingham and noticed this fellow sitting near the fountain. He was oblivious to everyone around him, totally involved in his work. I got an idea for a painting and made this sketch to use later.
